Why is grease a problem ?

Sewage backups and overflow of drains, toilets and manholes are typically the result of grease build up in the drainage pipes. Fats, oils and grease in waste water can cause damage to both your business and and the environment. Sewage backups can result in expensive clean-ups, property damage, and closure of your facility due to health code violations.

What is a grease trap ?

Grease traps are usually located near the sink or an exit. They slow the flow of grease on a baffle and capture it as floating material. Most of the heavier material will sink to the bottom of the grease trap.

What else should I know ?

  1. It is highly recommended that only a licensed hauler remove grease trap waste.

  2. Do not put any fryer grease down sinks. Put screens in sinks to collect any particles such as corn, dough, chili, and other such products.

  3. Get on a regular grease trap maintenance program.
